3rd annual Nuclear Africa Conference [Published on 2015-04-10]

  • NucAdvisor's Chief Executive (Ian Jamieson) was privileged to be a speaker at the 3rd Annual Nuclear Africa Conference in South Africa on 18/19 March 2015. The Conference was hosted by Necsa at their Pelindaba facility, and coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the SAFARI 1 research reactor.

    Other speakers at the conference included: Mr Phumzile Tshelane, CEO of Necsa; Mr Yukiya Amano, Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); Mr Jean-Jacques Gautrot, Chairman of the World Nuclear Association (WNA); Mr Bryan Erler, Vice President of ASME in New York; and Dr Bismark Tyobeka, CEO of the National Nuclear Regulator (NNR).

    The event was well attended by several of the Reactor Vendors vying to build South Africa's next generation of Nuclear Plants. A Gala Diner was held with over 250 invited dignitaries, with a keynote speech given by President Jacob Zuma who stated that the country will forge ahead with its nuclear power building programme, encouraged by the past successes of South Africa's nuclear achievements.
